The Global Logistics and Dispatch Program is a combination of classroom, hands-on instruction and outside assignments. Upon successful completion, logistics and dispatch graduates will have a variety of entry-level career choices in dispatch and supply chain management fields. The program includes three phases, Aircraft Dispatch, Transportation Dispatch and Global Logistics. Upon completion of the Aircraft Dispatch portion, a student or graduate may transfer credits within MIAT and then will be eligible (if age requirements are met) to apply and test for the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) Aircraft Dispatch Certificate. Entry-level careers would include Assistant Aircraft Dispatcher Aircraft Dispatcher Crew Scheduler and Flight Follower The second phase of training, Transportation Dispatch, includes training to enter a variety of additional dispatch careers including emergency response (ambulance and police), trucking and common carriers (over the road and local transport), service fleets (energy operations, shuttle services) and the railroad industry. Entry-level careers include Emergency Dispatcher, 9-1-1 Operator, Fleet Dispatcher, Communication Technician, and Railroad Dispatcher. The third phase of the program is Global Supply Chain Logistics involves warehousing, distribution, import/export and customs. This portion of the program will include training for Certified Logistics Associates (CLA) and Certified Logistics Technicians (CLT). Graduates will be qualified to work in entry-level careers such as Cargo Agents, Freight Forwarders/Brokers, Shipping Associates, Customer Service Agents, and Account Representatives.

A graduate of the program will choose from wide-ranging career opportunities in a variety of specialties within the transportation and public and private service industries. Logistics and dispatch personnel enjoy an exciting and challenging work environment because no two days or shifts are exactly the same. These specialists possess an array of transferable skills that can be used in various disciplines such as aviation, emergency services, trucking dispatch, public utilities, rail and public safety. They exercise sound judgment and utilize problem solving skills to maximize safety and efficiency, ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, and effectively recommend actions.
Varying schedules, flexibility, and overtime hours are required for these roles so employees are compensated accordingly.
