MIAT Aviation Careers

Three Simple Reasons to Go for the Aviation Maintenance Degree / Certificate

Do you dream of working for an airport or an airfield?  Are you ready for a career that suits both your personality and your passion?  MIAT has programs that will train you for just that! You can enroll in the Airframe and Powerplant Technician program and begin a career fixing and maintaining aircrafts, or if you’re looking for even more of a competitive edge, you can add just 24 hours of coursework to your schedule to earn an associate’s degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology.  Train in either of these programs at our Canton, MI, campus.

If you’re still unsure of which path to take, check out these three reasons why going for the associate’s degree could be the best choice for you.

1.  Earning a degree can help you secure a job when you complete your training.  By completing the additional 24 credit hours needed, along with the Airframe and Powerplant Technician program, MIAT graduates have more than the minimum requirements needed for most entry-level aviation maintenance jobs, and will be fully qualified to become FAA-certified.  When competing for a position, holding a degree may give you a leg up on other qualified candidates!

2.  Once you have a job, a more advanced educational background may make it easier to win a promotion. We found that aviation employers tend to favor employees with higher education levels when promoting from within.  What better way to advance your career and make more money than to do it through your existing employer!

3.  When you spend the time and energy it takes to receive a degree, you’ll acquire valuable critical thinking and problem solving skills along the way.  You’re already going to learn a lot from the Airframe and Powerplant Technician program, but the additional courses will enhance your knowledge and talents even further.

We want you to learn as much as possible during your time at MIAT.  Whether you’re going to tackle an Aviation Maintenance degree or enroll in another one of our programs, MIAT has great opportunities available for you!
