Become A Qualified Aviation Maintenance Technician

The Aviation Maintenance programs from MIAT College of Technology provide the hands-on training, practical experience and aviation industry support it takes to pursue a technical career as an aviation maintenance technician.

This aviation mechanic training focuses on teaching college students the advanced precision skills necessary to become FAA Certificated Airframe and Powerplant Technicians. Here are just a few of more than 40 precision technical skills MIAT College of Technology graduates learn during their aviation maintenance training:

  • Gear systems and operation
  • Sheet metal fabrication
  • Composite structure fabrication
  • High performance piston and turbine engines
  • Hydraulics/pneumatics
  • Avionics and advanced electrical systems

There are a two Aviation Maintenance programs to choose from:

Aviation Maintenance Technology Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree – 24 Months
By earning your Aviation Maintenance Technology AAS Degree, you learn the skills needed to be successful in your career. The degree program is offered at our Canton, Michigan, campus.

Airframe and Powerplant Technician Program – 20 Months
FAA-approved Airframe and Powerplant Technician training courses provide the knowledge and skills necessary to take the FAA exams required to be licensed as an Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT). Aviation Maintenance Technicians are prepared to pursue employment at major airports and private airfields across the country. Both our Houston and Canton campuses offer the 20-month A&P program.
